Editorial norms

Standard Format of the articles

We accept articles in *docx, *.doc or *.rtf format (no tabs), preferably no longer that 40,000 characters (with spaces, excluding bibliographical references), written in Spanish, English or Portuguese. We strongly encourage authors to submit articles written in their native language, when possible.

 

Every paper submitted for publication must contain the following:

title, in English and Spanish/Portuguese if the article is in English; in Spanish/Portuguese and in English if the article is in Spanish/Portuguese), 

full name(s) of the author(s) with a maximum of three authors permitted per article,

institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s); (in English and Spanish/Portugues) 

a brief CV of the author(s); (in English and Spanish/Portuguese). Please note that at least an MA level diploma is required for the article submission and it applies to all the Authors in case of the co-authorship

e-mail address(es) of the author(s);

ORCID ID of the author(s) - mandatory for, at least, one of the authors;

two abstracts (max. 200 words), in English and Spanish/Portuguese if the article is in English; in Spanish/Portuguese and in English if the article is in Spanish/Portuguese),

keywords (5-7 words, separated by commas), in respective languages of the two abstracts.

 

The use of the italics will be reserved for the titles of the cited works, as well as for the terms in foreign language. To highlight some concept or idea quotes should be used.

Reference System: The current version of the APA reference system (7th edition) will be followed. This is the “surname system (date)”, which has to consistently used within the text. It is enough to put the surname(s) of the author(s) in the general references followed by the date in parenthesis, for example: (Bacon, 1959). If the precise reference from a textual citation is available, it is added after the date, for example: (Rojas, 1992, pp. 5-6).

 

Bibliographical references: A list of bibliographical references has to be included at the end of the article and contain all the references used in the text. References should be presented with all of the data required according to the APA methodology, for example:

Berger, D., Grant Wood, A. (Eds.). (2010). Holiday in Mexico. Critical Reflections on Tourism and Tourist Encounters. Duke University Press.

Chapter in an edited book: 

Camacho, J. (2014). Una cocina exprés. Cómo se cocina una política pública de patrimonio culinario. In M. Montenegro, M. Zambrano & M. Chaves (Eds.), El valor del patrimonio: mercado, politicas culturales y agenciamientos sociales (pp. 169-200). ICANH.

Diagrams and tables (in black and white only) should be used in the graphic format compatible with MS Windows or in *.jpg.

The figures must be sent as images made in the following formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, not larger than 1 MB, which must not exceed 650 pixels, with the following recommended dimensions: 400 pixels wide by 150 pixels long.

Standard Format of the Book Reviews

Book reviews will be short texts that comment and critically inform about a book or monograph recently published in the field of Latin American studies.

Articles must be written in the following format: *.doc, *.docx or *.rtf (without tabulations), no longer than 5 standard pages (1800 signs per page), written in Spanish, English or Portuguese.
