Abstract

Situated within Communication and Religion studies, this paper examines the strategies adopted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) in response to streaming culture, focusing on the Feliz7Play platform. Based on a historical overview of Adventist fictional production in South America and a mixed-methods analysis of 115 catalog titles, the study investigates formats, genres, and themes. The findings indicate a shift from the denomination’s historical rejection of fiction, with the SDA consolidating a continuous production policy. This is marked by the predominance of drama (81.7%), the dominance of film format (67.8%), and increasing genre hybridization. The incorporation of streaming industry logics is also evident, including franchises, sequels, and releases aligned with the liturgical calendar. Audience performance indicators point to the maturation of this religious-media market. The analysis shows that productions address themes such as gender-based violence, social media exposure, and identity, translating socially relevant issues into everyday and entertainment contexts. It is concluded that the SDA combines evangelistic purposes with the socialization of values and community building by positioning itself in the gospel audiovisual market through on-demand content. Furthermore, through fictional narratives, it engages with and positions itself within public debate.
