Revista del CESLA. International Latin American Studies Review
Azorean heritages, sociabilities, territories and displacements in Latin America
Guest editors: Elis Regina Barbosa Angelo (Rural Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Vera Lucia Maciel Barroso (Cultural-Historical Center Santa Casa, Porto Alegre)
The publication of the dossier seeks to address territorial identities, spaces, sociabilities, displacements and territorialities marked by the Azorean migration to the Latin American continent, especially from perspectives that focus on debates about history, anthropology, sociology and museology. The idea is to deepen the debates that promote discussions about the relations of departure and arrival of the migrants, the formation of territories, memories and heritage related to various apprehensions and Latin American realities. The focus is on the appropriation of places by communities of Azorean origin that recognize in them their choices, trajectories, histories and identities.
By proposing the topic “Azorean heritages, sociabilities, territories and displacements”, the essays will constitute perspectives of records of memories historically reorganized by the various individuals and groups of Azoreans who crossed the Atlantic in search of new achievements in the New World. We propose the publication of the dossier for 2023, the year in which we celebrate 20 years of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage.
